Personally I think everyone gets the shitty end of the stick at one point or another, no matter the scenario.

As others have said, it's astounding the amount of people who will go out of the way to tell you how bad you are and how big a pos everyone thinks you are. All because you didn't return some text gear or told them to piss off for their non-stop whining. The amount of messages I got for dooring Kendall and not returning to Walker is so funny and laughable. The amount of messages I got concerning them "no voting" my Gaidin applicant really was icing on the cake. Doesn't bother me one bit. :P

It's amazing how petty people can be, just because you've not played the way they want or catered to their wishes. You guys need to grow some thicker skin. Real life comes first, that's true, but losing a piece of text and claiming someone is a huge douche and blackballed w/e really is hilarious. It sucks, I know. I've been killed afk/ld numerous times for rares/uniques whatever and I very rarely get a return. Nice when it happens, it's whatever if it doesn't.

Sit back, enjoy your time playing this game with each other. Laugh when you die, laugh when you win. The only person infringing on your own happiness involving the game is yourself.

Just out of curiosity, does anyone actually play in a style specifically for the enjoyment of the rest of the players rather than themselves? We all play this game because we like it. We likely have different reasons why we like it and enjoy different aspects of it. But we all play it for ourselves, and to foist responsibility for your enjoyment of the game onto another person is unreasonable at the very least.

Every human being is in essence selfish by nature. Even people who claim to be altruistic, derive some sort of enjoyment of their altruism (encouragement from other players, good standing amongst the group, etc etc) and I dare claim that it serves as enjoyment for them in that manner.

I play for me, and if others have fun while playing with me, thats a bonus. I try not to hurt others on purpose, but I also wont pull my punches against you if we are playing against eachother (neither will I expect the other side to do so).

I normally dont return gear, apart from dropping eq which is clearly redundant to me (good for you if you like it and get it back!) and is just going to weigh me down in PK. If you decide to go AFK on mobs in the middle of the Savannah in a fade room which I tend to use regularly, thats your bad call, and my good luck. If you are LD, I will let you be, or incase of an inadvertant rip, return your equipment. For unflagged LD I tend to give people the benefit of the doubt, but I also have kept eq if it was someone who claims to be unflagged LD everytime they die..

THIS is the biggest BS part of the game. The fact that people choose to screw over another player who creates a completely different character to play a completely different part of the game with should absolutely be grounds for you getting kicked out of your own clan. This is the main reason I left the game before and one that should be looked at hard by the imms.

And don't give me the BS reason that "he plays like a douche on his regular character". So what. That is that character, not the new one. You should be smart enough to have rules in place to kick someone out of a new clan if they also play like a douche there as well. But to deny someone entrance into "your" clan because you don't like how they play a completely different character. That BS is all on you, not them.

I don't want there to be confusion, as I was the one to ultimately terminated my apprenticeship myself. It's whatever though, it happens. I'm pretty open with who my characters are, so I'm partially to blame. This isn't a "pls pitty me post" so I don't want it to come off as such.

I feel as if a lot of us take the game too seriously in certain aspects, and it's okay in certain places where maturity and a sense of seriousness is required. People just need to chill out however. If somehow the game is affecting you irl, take a 15 minute breather while you're in the circle or whatever. It's fine to be annoyed. Let it roll off your shoulders after a minute though. Tis what I do anyway.

I, the great No-Voter, spearheaded this movement against Rig.

It was surprisingly easy.

Tons of people play differently because of how it affects other players ability to enjoy the game. When someone leaves PK because their side is too stacked, or the types of weaves channies use, or (previously) endlessly stacking mobs, and so on and so on.

No comment on the original post, but it's always been a minority of players who intentionally kill the AFK and LD. It's an even smaller minority that will defend it on any sort of grounds. Because it's stupid.

Other problems aside, killing AFK players, especially solo ones, is a classic example of short-sighted thinking in the game. If you kill the AFK guy who's come north/south to look for a fight, they don't get a chance to narrate there's enemies, they don't get a chance to fight or run, which means no one else shows up and PK is over til the next guy comes to look--which could be hours.

Anyone who knows me knows that I do get enjoyment out of helping other people enjoy the game. It is not the sole reason I play. I enjoy playing fair. I enjoy helping people. I enjoy discovering things. I enjoy role paying. Other people do not enjoy any of those things. Some people enjoy being an ass to blow off steam or maybe it is because they're an ass in real life. Shrug. Whatever.

I played this game with two or three brief breaks for seven or eight years. Back in 2015 certain things were going on that were pissing me off so badly in the game that I was taking my frustration out on my family. So I disappeared. I didn't make a post. I didn't answer IMs. I just cut myself off for three years. It gave me perspective. I am in control of how well I enjoy the game. If I encounter people I don't like so much, I avoid them or ignore them. They can play how they want. I will enjoy the game the way I want to as well. If we collide, so be it.

The point is that everyone should be aware that they can be killed at any moment for any reason at any level. It is upsetting. I get pissed off when I die. It's normal. But the actions, reasons and motives of other people do not control your emotions or your enjoyment. You do. Find a way to manage your rage and anger and you will find a way to enjoy the game in spite of the more unsavory characters. It will help you in life as well as in the game.
