FIXED: Katar weaponsmith missing way to tell if superior weapon has already been crafted

The announcement regarding the changes to Katar weapon crafting (http://www.wotmod.org/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=6225) states that it is possible to be told if anyone has succeeded this boot in the 1 and only possible superior craft.
  • You will have a % chance to craft the superior dagger or superior spear, if it hasn't already been made that day, instead of the previous 100% rate.
  • The weaponsmith will let you know if anyone has already crafted a superior dagger or spear, if you ask him about a superior weapon.
However, either it does not work properly or it does not do so in the manner we were told. If he does, but in a totally non-transparent way like he nods at the beginning of his shpiel when someone has and doesn't nod when someone hasn't yet (or vice-versa), this needs to be made more explicit. It's not fair to expect people to read between the lines like that.

When it has already made the item in question, he literally says:
An expert weaponsmith points to a large sign on the wall.

An expert weaponsmith says 'I have already made an excellent dagger today.' / An expert weaponsmith says ' I have already made an excellent spear today.'

An expert weaponsmith smiles at you.
There is nothing ambiguous about that.

Thanks. I've either never seen him say that or forgotten it if I had. I guess the lack of certainty of whether all of the many, many fails I have had were due to bad luck or bad timing made me a little frustrated. Thanks for the clarification. As always, we <3 your work Lyssi!

It wouldn't hurt to make it more explicit (as in say I have/have not so there is always a way of knowing what message relates to that functionality and what relates to his help stuff) but I'm sure you have much bigger fish to fry.

There is still something wrong with that mobol, I went to craft last night and used the "say superior weapon" command where he pointed to the sign and told me that a spear had already been crafted that day. Between last night this morning and this afternoon (all since the last boot) i checked again to see if he crafted the baislard and crafted 3 daggers. Each time I checked again to see if someone had crafted the dagger, but the 3rd time it no longer showed that someone had crafted the spear anymore. sometime in the previous 3 hours it erased the fact that a gold spear had been made, but i did not test to confirm if it could still be crafted again that boot or not.

It's working alright. Just that some of your fine fellow players think that by killing the weaponsmith, they get to reset it.

Guess what, the weapons are actually loaded once a boot on another mob. Killing the weaponsmith will do diddly, except removing the items he loads after crafting a superior dagger/spear from his inventory. Like the tongs. That item is there just so it can tell players if he crafted something or not.

Now, I can do a workaround, but that costs time. Looking at this takes time. And this is how cheating takes away from other players and thus the game. Not pointing fingers at you btw, Chelou, just a general statement at the general attitude of some players.

Edit: for the record, this took 20 minutes.

Ah so thats what the tongs are for! Ive noticed if you give the items too early (before the zone pops again) or if you give the wrong items or if you say drop please, then he drops the tongs in addition to everything else. So if he does that should i just pick them up and give them back to him for the mobol to work correctly?

glad that things are getting done with it, but not sure if its still working, mob is claiming that it has been made and has not been made at the same time. doesnt have any tongs or anything on him, might have old code checking for item and new code that doesnt use the item now? cant tell for sure

Seem it is buggy again. It said no one had crafted the spear.

So that part is not actually a bug, there is actually two timers going on there, each zone pop he can can only craft one weapon- either a dagger or a spear. If anyone else on the mud tries to craft another weapon that same zone pop he will always drop the items and say he is busy, regardless of whether the gold spear or the basilard has been made. When you saw the mouse scuttle across the floor that showed that the zone pop and that another weapon could be made.

In addition to that you have the once a day timer, where only one basilard and one gold spear can be crafted per boot. This does not guarantee that you will get the superior weapon, it is still random whether you get the superior spear or not. But once a gold spear has been made, you can still craft spears each zone pop but will only get a junk spear each time and will not have the possibility of getting the gold spear. That is why he mentions if the superior spear has been crafted so you decide not to craft if there is no chance at the good one.
